Chevruel Pendulum
Communicate directly with your inner mind
This is a device to test amenability to suggestion. It measures the degree of response to a thought in the mind or a given suggestion. Those who can unconsciously make the pendulum swing all the way to the edge of the circle marks the best subjects.
If you can make this happen you can achieve the hypnosis state.

Chevreul Pendulum
When a thought is put into the mind, it  causes the tiny muscles in the fingers to move in a direction.
In psychology, this is called Ideomotor Responses.
Motion is occurring from a condition put into the mind
Questions must be worded so that they can be answered with a yes or no. Preferably, write questions down on a sheet of paper.
The subconscious mind will answer with a signal.
Make a pendulum
Need:
  1. A thread, string, cord, or chain, about 8--10 inches long
  2. An Object:  an iron washer, or a ring, or a pendant
Print or draw the above circle

  • Tie or thread the object through the pendulum. Hold the string between the thumb and forefinger with the elbow resting on the arm of your chair or on the table, so that the weight can dangle freely.
  • Place the pendulum over the above marked circle on a table in front of you  and below your pendulum.
  • Now relax and concentrate.
  • Merely think of your question. You might say to yourself...
" My subconscious mind is to select one of the four motions of this pendulum to answer the questions before me."
  • Watch and concentrate on the pendulum. It will usually move in a few seconds.
If the pendulum continually moves in circles, the subconscious mind does not want to answer, or does not know the answer. Make sure that your questions are worded exactly as you mean them, as the subconscious mind takes everything literally.
This technique is useful in self-therapy and can help you with decisions.
